+++++ Open show at Ben Geren Park in Fort Smith, AR:

        This was hilarious, went to this car show, the DJ announces there's gonna be a "wet T-shirt contest", I am getting ready to watch that, yeah! turns out, it's a REDNECK WET T-SHIRT CONTEST !the way they do it, you stick the antenna in the ground, bring a bucket with wet shirts, goal is to hook as many shirts as possible on the antenna, winner gets a pig foot... actually, it turned out to be fun... ONLY IN ARKANSAS... makes for a good back yard game!
       

+++++ Poteau bluegrass music Festival: 05/06/2011

small but good, we enjoyed, the best part was the music, some talented local bands, like "Crossroads" and "Curtis and Friends".

There were pony rides for the kids... just getting started...

++++Hackett, AR: Car Show & Poker run 04/30/2011

 Rafee Corvair first car show of the year in Hackett, AR... small but sweet... there was an 8-man band playing bluegrass, some BBQ sandwiches with not enough meat, stingy on the goods... and a variety of cars, a poker run for the bikers... nice show overall, we can barely wait for the next one... keep them rolling, peace out! Like

awesome! nothing like live music!

we are missing him a lot, he was a good lad.......

+++2010 and 2009 Talihina fall festival and car show: we never miss this local favorite, always a lot of fun, arts and crafts, wine tasting, live music, and car show by the school. +++Grandpa's last hunt:

Johnny's last hunt, he's getting too tired for this; Johnny's been part of the family for 13+ years, I remember to this day when he came to the shop out of nowhere, with a chewed up rope around his neck, looking real tough. Whoever had him used to keep him tied up, seemed he didn't like that, loved to run around and terrorize the cats and the other dogs. I kinda felt bad for him and fed him once, he took off, the next day when I came back, he was under one of the cars. I guess he figured out he found a friend, no more rope around the neck, and not too many rules to follow. Pretty soon, he decided to stay, many times though he would still wander, and when he wouldn't come back, I knew he was locked up. I had to bail him out many, many times. He loved his freedom so much, he would even climb fences to do his thing. A couple of years ago, he survived a severe wound to his neck, inflicted by a wild pig, I thought I was gonna loose him, but he is a tough boy, he made it... now retired from action, his pleasures are eating and sleeping, and an occasional Frankenstein walk... still my good pal.

+++Fall Foliage festival & Classic car show, October 16 2010, Robbers'cave, OK: this was our 4 th time at this awesome car show, as usual we had a blast, there were well over 400 Classic rides. There was live Country music, iron workers, ropers, crafts, rides for the kids, campers, fishing, lots of bikers, pedal boaters, plenty of food like Indian tacos, funnel cakes, BBQ, fresh pizza cooked in a mobile brick oven, turkey legs (sucked this year, weren't cooked all the way)... and for the FIRST TIME, 2 Corvairs, one wanna-be Batmobile, and Rafman & Frenchy's 64. far out! Hope to see you VAIR next year! Enjoy the pix.

+++New update: our friend Michel from The Chevrolet Corvair Club de Paris (Paris France, not Texas) imitating Rafman while restoring some Panhards, french Classics from the 60's, his second favorite cars after the Corvairs. You be the judge! Michel imitant Rafee, Rafee ne peut pas faire mieux.....et les Panhards sont super.

+++October 09, fall foliage festival, Wilburton, OK: awesome show , and again I was the only Corvair , yeah , I got all the looks ! and many folks telling me their memories about the Corvair that was in their family, the first time they got lucky in the back seat, how thanks to the Vair, they met their soul mate ( and now they are divorced, ouch !) , how their Vair used to leak a lot of oil...I wish I have one like yours, but I'm broke....I know where there are several Corvairs for sale,... did your car ever caught on fire ?... are they really unsafe ? ...is it true that they flip easier ? ....I know a friend who has one, he doesn't know where to find parts, and on and on....Man, I really enjoyed schooling them , telling that we aren't in the 60s anymore, there are so may modifications possible to improve them.So here are some pix from the show, enjoy !
