proud owner Phil Beach from Texas, across the border .Phil recently went through some hard times and did not have much time to get his ride back on the road, so he brought it to Rafee Corvair for a complete tune-up,carburetor rebuild; we fixed some vacuum leaks, replaced the top blower bearing, flushed his gas tank, and many other details, BANG, this baby was ready to go back to Phil and the kids. 1964 Rampside, Kansas Mean Machine
proud owner Kirk J. , that's right, he is back for diagnostic ! as he was driving in the plains, the engine went KAPUT, Ouch !!!: crank broke, damaged the block, dropped a seat, pressure plate & flywheel got damaged in the process, NO GOOD. The next generation of Vair drivers is here ! This 65 was recently purchased by 18-year old Bene from Texas, with a little help from her Dad , that is. After struggling to get her new ride tuned -up and running, they finally found the right mechanic here at Rafee Corvair, the Man!! What can I say, if it's Corvair, I can fix it & put it back on the road, where it belongs ! After tuning the carburetors , setting the timing & replacing the old starter, Bene was able to take the wheel and test drive her new ride. The car will now undergo some cosmetic work, get a new paint job, and other improvements to make it safe. So Texans, watch out, there a new Vair in town !! Here are some pix, we'll post more as the job progresses.
64 Okie-Vair hardtop
It is proudly owned by Big Mark , who recently purchased it, and is looking forward to hook this car up , and tear the roads in style. After doing a little research to locate the right man for the job , with the skills and still at an affordable price, he chose Rafee Corvair and brought his ride all the way from Skiatook- no, it's not in Alaska , but some small town in the middle of north-eastern Oklahoma ( I heard it is close to a pond !! ) , for an engine rebuild. Unlike many who concentrate on the looks first and can't even make it to the corner without breaking down, he went about it the right way, mechanical work first ! We just got done building his 110 HP Powerglide engine, with a kick ! We used a 270 Isky cam and 0.60 oversize pistons ,two single air cleaners (they allow better air flow to the carbs ) to boost power. We also installed an electric fuel pump to eliminate vapor-locking and ensure 100% fuel distribution to the carbs, especially on hot summer days; a single wire alternator with an internal regulator to replace the generator that often causes problems and is unreliable; and many other upgrades. Above you can see the way I run the fuel lines when I install electric fuel pumps. For each engine, I do it a little differently , but you can see some of the basics. Nothing to it, you can do it too , if you put your mind to it. Electric fuel pumps are available in online shopping, under "Fuel System " .
Don't let the looks of this ride fool you, it can leave many Vairs in the dust ! and just wait til Mark finishes hooking it up, it is going to be a badass, Buzz ! Buzz !
64 Rampside , uh, green , from Kansas
Rafee recently had the cool experience of meeting Kansas Kirk J. , on his trip from Kansas to Tulsa, he decided to knock 2 birds with one stone and go south of the I-40 to the shop, to get his Green Machine tuned. He spent the day here at Rafee's as his ride was getting some oil leaks fixed , and a tune-up. The day went by quick, as we chatted along, and showed him stuff he can do to maintain his Vair without spending too much cash, like checking the oil, tire pressure , and windshield wiper fluid ! Seriously, I gave him some pointers , especially that he enjoys taking long road trips in his Vair, and we salute that ! It brought me flashbacks of my own numerous trips , from Cali to Okie , back and forth ! Anyhow, here are some pix of Kansas K. J., and his awesome rampside ! Man, he even got a GPS and a cooler , that was sweeto !!
63 COUPE
This is a beautiful 63 Coupe, red with a black top, a sweet combination. This car is a daily driver with a modified 110 HP engine and a 4-speed transmission. Rafee installed front disc brakes , custom suspension and rear sway bar for increased safety and better handling. It has custom exhaust and custom wheels. It is a well maintained Corvair, proudly owned by Mr. Joe Sanchez of Santa Monica, California.

You might recognize it from the movie " Forest Gump", remember when he went to the college to look for his girl Sharuska, and there was a big sandstorm, and she was making out with another chick......Anyway, this is the car, it has won many awards, including " Best Corvair in a Motion Picture". 1964 COUPE
This is a 1964 coupe , with a brand new paint job, customized interior, 140 HP, with a 327, custom exhaust, front disc brakes and custom wheels installed by Rafee. From this set-up, it is easy to go back to the original wheels if one desires. As you can see, we have a future Corvair owner in training. 1967 CORD
One of a kind, spectacular vehicle. Beautiful pale yellow exterior with beige leather interior. The design is CORD, but to run at its best, her owner rightfully chose the CORVAIR POWER of a 140.
1966 Corsa Coupe
This beautiful fiery red late model features front disc brakes installed by Rafee THE MAN, 4-speed transmission, and at this point a 110 HP engine. The owner, Jason from Northridge, wants to upgrade it to a V-8 in the future. Rafee just got done rebuilding the front & rear suspension and installing the disc brakes. 1966 Corsa Convertible
This beautiful dark blue late model belongs to our loyal customer Mr. Geary in Hollywood. He has chosen Rafee Corvair for all work to be done, from maintenance to engine rebuild. Rafee installed the Stock 140 engine 6 years ago, an it is still going strong. It has a 260 CAM with 0.20 cast pistons, electronic ignition and an electronic fuel pump. Such as sweet job, even JOHNNY is smilling! :)
